Five lakh trees to provide green cover to Taj Mahal

Agra: Taj Mahal would be provided a green cover with 5 lakh trees, to be planted at a cost of Rs 35 crores according to UP's principal secretary environment Vinod Malhotra.
Malhotra told www.mediabharti.com that effective measures to contain environmental pollution were needed to protect the heritage buildings in city.After a meeting with district officials he said that state government had earmarked Rs 27 crores for repair and maintenance of roads in Taj city. Till date Rs 293 crores had been spent on various pollution control measures, he said. Malhotra informed that 11 municipal bodies including Agra Nagar Nigam and dozens of hospitals had been identified for drastic action for failing to meet pollution control norms and drawing up schemes for garbage collection.
